Jay Clarkson has been performing, in bands and solo, since 1980 and was living in Christchurch at the very beginning of Flying Nun, often gigging with the likes of The Gordons, The Bilders, Toy Love, 25 Cents, The Clean, Mainly Spaniards and many many others. Her bands include: The Playthings; They Were Expendable, Breathing Cage, and she wrote ‘The Boy With the Sad Hands’ and ‘The Man With No Desire’, both of which regularly appear on Flying Nun compilation albums. A singer and guitarist with very much her own style, she continues to compose, record and perform. Her latest album is SPUR and is available at Flying Out and other discerning music shops.
